October '06 Ofsted Inspection
Sure Steps recently underwent our first inspection. We were one of the first nurseries in the area to be inspected under
the new stringent guidelines introduced this year. We are pleased to say that we passed with comment that we have an a sound
foundation to become an excellent nursery!

Dec '06 Parents Social Evening
A big thanks to all the parents that came to our social evening. Staff and parents alike enjoyed themselves and it was
good to meet in a relaxed and calm atmosphere. We are planning to hold another soon - so watch this space!
Dec '06 - Childrens christmas party
We are holding a party for all the children that come to the nursery on Thursday 21st December at 10:30. If your
child does not normally attend this session, then please bring them at 10:30. The party will finish at 12:30 and whilst you
are not required to stay we would welcome anyone willing to helpout.
Dec '06 - Nursery Nativity
Don't forget to reserve your tickets to see your child's star potential in the nursery nativity. It starts at 10:30
prompt and lasts approximately 20 minutes (depending on artistic license!). We will be serving teas, coffees and mince pies
after the performance.
Dec '06 - Christmas Closure
We would like to remind everyone that the nursery will shut at 4PM on Friday 22nd December and open again at 8:00AM on
Tuesday January 2nd.
January '07 - Preschool education grant
We still have some places for children in our preschool. If your child is 3 before January 1st and is already in nursery
we will apply for the grant on your behalf. If you wish your child to join our nursery and qualify for the grant you must
register before January 9th. Please contact Rebecca for details.

April '07 - NDNA Awards Nominations
I would like to thank all the parents for the wonderful comments received for the NDNA awards. We
have decided to use these to set up a parents testimonial area on the website and will contact each of you to gain your permission
first.
April '07 - Introducing Funzone
In line with our policy for plenty of outdoor fun and activity, we are pleased to introduce "Funzone"
run by Kevin Mortimer. Funzone visits our setting regularly and consists of a series of games and activities tailored
to the different age groups and abilities to ensure everyone is included and has a lot of fun whilst learnnig about team games
and gaining that all important excercise.

April '07 - Shirley came to visit
We were delighted when shirley accepted our invitation to come and talk to our little guests. Shirley
spent the morning explaining the importance of road safety and showing the children how to use the lollipop for crossing the
road. Our thanks goes out to shirley for keeping us all entertained!

May '07 - Parents Social
A big thank you to all of you that attended the parents social evening. It was good to meet with you and chat
over a glass of wine and one of John's currys! We will be holding another event in the summer - so watch this space!
May '07 - Precious Moments
DVD
Precious moments
will be coming in to make a short film of your child set in a farmyard environment. These are great keepsakes and momento's
of your childs time at Sure Steps. If your child is not in on the day that filming is taking place, please contact us to arrange
a filming for them.
June 2007 - Police and Fire
Brigade Visit
Don't worry - wer'e not in trouble! Many thanks
to our boys in blue and our brave fireman for making their visits to the nursery so special for the children. The children
had a wonderful time and special thanks for the invitation to visit the fire station for our pre-schoolers - I'm sure
they will stop talking about it sometime....
August 2007 - Planning for the Future
We are pleased to advise that we have been succesful in our application to expand the nursery. We will be refurbishing the
first floor and upgrading ground floor facilities in the coming months and expanding numbers to 46 places. The building work
will not affect the day to day operations of the nursery.
September 2007 - Sure
Steps Uniform Available
We have liaised with our uniform supplier to bring you a range of clothing for
everyday use. We are offering sweatshirts, polo shirts and pump bags in blue and yellow. Please ask Marie or Ann for further
details.
November 2007 - BBC Children in Need
WOW - well done
to all the parents, staff and especially the children for their sponsored walk. The sponsorship combined with the raffle with
generous prizes donated by local business and "pyjama sponsor" managed to raise a whopping £700! This has
really raised the bar for next year......
March 2008 - Grand Opening and Open Day!
On March 3rd we finally opened our doors to our new first floor, welcoming our little guests. Many thanks
to all of our children and parents for their understanding and patience during the expansion program. We invite all existing
and prospective parents to come and visit us on Saturday March 5th 11-4PM. we look forward to seeing you there.

- Graduation Party
Thank you to all who came to our graduation party. We are pleased to see so many of
our little stars graduating to big school and we hope that you find your scrap books full of memories of your time here. Good
luck to everyone!
August 2008 - Parents Social
This was one
of our best attended social yet and the BBQ went down a treat. These events are enjoyed by both staff and parents, as demonstrated
by those who left after 3AM! (You know who you are!) Look out for our next one towards Christmas.
October 2008 - New Manager
We would like to announce the arrival of our new manager,
Nicola. Nicola is a qualified teacher and has previously managed a succesful setting from a start up and has been on a European
exhchange program with a nursery in Finland. We are sure you will join us in welcoming Nichola and please stop by and introduce
yourself.

We will again be holding
different fund raising activities for Children in Need. Please see the nursery information board for details. Last year we
raised a massive £700 - so we have it all to do to raise more this year!

2008 - Children in Need - WE DID IT!!
Well done and a big thanks to everyone that contributed. We managed
to raise a wopping £1146 after the nursery contributed £300. We have really raised the the bar for next year!

We
do hope you enjoyed the hand print plates that were given as gifts for Christmas. You would have found the details of the
company that helped us with these and ask you give them your support as they were very helpful to us.
